Autumn 2008 Paintings of Max Morresi

Hello, a new set of photos follows. My paintings have been transitioning from the purely symbolic and graphic, to the realm of the representational. A friend recently asked me why. I think the challenge of method, added to my recent surroundings, provide to my motivations. If I was in the city still, these things would have no appeal to me, probably.

Note: As a computer guy and a designer, there are needs for tactile reasurrance in ones work which begins to emerge. After years of using graphics applications professionally, I found that without revisting actual feeling, real texture, and permanent-process medias, I began to feel disconnected from the actual reasons I began to do artwork in the first place. There is no undo, which at first, coming back, is of course maddening.
